3D Generalist (Character Specialist)

Primary Responsibilities
Character Modeling:
- Translate 2D concepts and sketches into 3D character models.
- Maintain a balance between artistic aspects and technical constraints.
- Work closely with the design team to ensure character designs are faithfully realized in 3D.
Rigging:
- Create intuitive and efficient rigs for characters.
- Collaborate with animators to ensure rigs meet the needs of the animation team.
- Troubleshoot and iterate on rigs based on animator feedback.
Character Animation:
- Animate characters according to the specific requirements of the project.
- Ensure that animated characters convey emotions, motivations, and overall personality consistent with storyboards or directorial vision.
- Work with the animation team to maintain consistency and high-quality output.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Participate in animation team meetings, providing input on storytelling, character movement, and overall scene composition.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry tools and trends.
- Assist in other areas of 3D production as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in Maya/Blender/Cinema 4D
- Strong understanding of anatomy, motion, and character design.
- Ability to take and implement feedback and ensure that feedback is incorporated.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality animation.
- 3 years of experience in character modeling, rigging, and animation.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Motion Graphics in After Effects is a plus.
- Experience in both organic and mechanical rigging.
- Basic understanding of texturing, lighting, and shading.
